Smart Grid 2.0: The Soft Grid

This panel session, made up of leading utilities and technology vendors, will provide real-world insight into what will be one of the next big areas of smart grid investments - The Soft Grid. Over the next decade, as the end-to-end grid communication layer gets built out in countries across the globe new applications and services will become increasingly viable. Many have speculated that the real value proposition of Smart Grid is what you can do on top of this new communications platform. This session will cover a range of topics including systems integration, data management, and new energy "apps" for consumers (such as web-based energy portals, remote monitoring and control, and the integration of "greentech" and smart homes).

Mr. De Luca is a founding team member of Locus Energy, which provides web-based operations and management software to the distributed renewable energy market. At Locus, he is responsible for product management as well as strategic planning and business development. He has 10 years experience in information technology marketing and sales. Prior to Locus, Mr. De Luca was the vice president of marketing at GridPoint, where he was instrumental in launching the company's innovative renewable integration products. He has a B.A. in Economics from Pomona College.
Eric Dresselhuys,

Mr. Dresselhuys has been with Silver Spring since it was founded in
2002. He has more than ten years of experience in advanced metering and
communications sales and marketing. He has held various roles in
customer development, new product development and product introductions.
Mr. Dresselhuys has presented a number of technical and commercial
papers related to advanced metering and smart grid technologies and was
a founder of OpenAMI. He currently serves on the board of directors of
the DRSG Coalition (Demand Response and Smart Grid) and has served on
the Automatic Meter Reading Association's (AMRA) Marketing and
Development Committee. Mr. Dresselhuys previously spent nine years at
Procter & Gamble in various sales and marketing roles. He holds a B.S.
in economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Last summer he
installed solar-powered lights around his home.
Clement Chen,

Mr. Chen is responsible for strategic planning, M&A support and the crafting of business strategies in markets such as energy, homeland security and logistics. Prior to joining SAIC, he served as vice president, business innovation for Lockheed Martin where he was responsible for driving innovative concepts linking technology development, business models and strategy across the enterprise. Mr. Chen has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in finance, business development, business operations, strategic planning and corporate development with Lockheed Martin, IBM and Software AG.
John Galloway,

Mr. Galloway has more than 18 years of IT leadership experience. He brings a proven track record of helping customers solve business problems by bringing the right mix of solution and talent to bear. Prior to joining Ecologic Analytics, Mr. Galloway spent 13 years with EDS. In his most recent post with EDS, he was responsible for developing new accounts for the U.S. energy and utility division, building the sales pipeline to over $150 million in less than a year. He holds a BS degree in Computer Information Systems from Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Michigan.
