Grid ComForum targets the needs of electric power industry managers and executives responsible for the deployment of smart grid technology, with a particular focus on the communications layer. Grid ComForum provides a unique focus on technology selection and management as well as addresses business case development, market drivers and marketing, operations, and policy concerns.
Why Grid ComForum
- IEC's Rich History. The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) has been serving the electronics and telecommunications industries for more than 60 years. The IEC's mission is to connect academia and industry through the highest quality and most innovative forms of continuing education.
- Experience Producing Successful Industry Events. When broadband had matured from a technology in development to one ready for deployment, the IEC saw a need for a conference and exhibition that dealt with this change and was designed for network operators and technology suppliers. And so was born the Broadband World Forum ten years ago. Much like Broadband World Forum was for the telecoms market, the Grid ComForum is a conference and exhibition about Smart Grid deployment geared toward the power grid operators and their technology suppliers.
- Our Partners. The IEC has partnered with several industry organizations in both the power and communications industries to provide support of Grid ComForum. Such industry partners include GridWise Alliance, Home Gateway Initiative, OASIS, U-SNAP, TIA, and others. Participating companies in this year's event include AT&T, Cisco, DTE Energy, GE, IBM, Itron, Southern California Edison, and more.
Who Should Attend?
- Municipal, investor-owned, and co-op electric power utilities,, who are seeking connections with suppliers in order to build a secure, next-generation power grid.
- System integrators and consultants, power and utility integrators, and equipment and software technology vendors,, who can provide the technology component to add the communications layer to the grid for performance monitoring and load response.
- Communication Service Providers, who will manage the deployment of the double-layer communications component through the use of their network services thus enabling the next-generation power grid.
- Regulators and Policy Makers, who need to understand Smart Grid technology and its impact on the power utilities they regulate as they seek to secure and advance the electric power infrastructure.
- International grid operators, technology suppliers, communication service providers, and regulators and policy makers, who can learn about leading Smart Grid development and deployment in the United States as well as share their experiences.
Why Attend?
- High-value educational sessions focused on technology selection and management, business issues, market drivers, operations, and policy concerns.
- An invaluable opportunity to network with senior-level industry leaders and your peers
- Key industry thought-leaders sharing their perspectives and opinions on the challenges in meeting increasing power demands and the business and technology issues facing the electric power industry.
- The opportunity to learn key business models supporting the next-generation power grid
- Forge business relationships with key deal-makers in the communications and electric power markets.
- Location, Location, Location. It's no coincidence that Grid ComForum is taking place in Santa Clara, California. In fact, its location was chosen with care. California has long encouraged the deployment of new technologies and upgrade of its power utilities. In addition, electric power utilities PG&E and Southern California Edison are recognized as leaders in Smart Grid development and deployment. Equally as important, Silicon Valley is the technology innovation capitol of the world.
