Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), International Engineering Consortium (IEC) Collaborate on Smart Grid Technology at Grid ComForum
CHICAGO – January 18, 2010 – The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) are collaborating in the area of smart grid technology with the launch of the inaugural Grid ComForum this February 2-3, 2010 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
The IEC and TIA have worked together to provide quality continuing education and service programs for the international communications industry for nearly 20 years.
"Our organizations have spent many years collaborating to create connectivity and ensure viability in the communications industry. We're pleased to apply our experience to the next-generation power grid and unite disparate parts of the industry at the Grid ComForum event," stated IEC President John R. Janowiak.
"TIA is committed to developing interoperable standards for new technologies and smart applications that connect to the communications network to improve energy efficiency," said TIA President Grant Seiffert. "We look forward to working collaboratively with IEC and the diverse groups who share our vision for delivering a sustainable future."
Grid ComForum is the definitive event for electric power utility managers and executives responsible for the integration of information and communications technology into the electric power grid infrastructure. The conference programming will feature key industry thought-leaders sharing their insight into the business and technology issues facing the electric power industry including technology selection and management, market drivers, operations, and policy concerns.
Other participating associations include Alliance to Save Energy, Automation Federation, Broadband Forum, CABA, GridWise Alliance, Home Gateway Initiative, HomePlug Powerline Alliance, IPSO Alliance, OASIS, SIP Forum, U-SNAP Alliance, Wi-Fi Alliance, and ZigBee Alliance.
All industry professionals are invited to register at www.GridComForum.com/registration/register.asp. To view the entire schedule, visit www.GridComForum.com/attendees/program_schedule_gcf.asp.
